In the long and rich history of Lazio-Juventus, very often it has been defenders that have made an important contribution. Obviously starting from the period of BBBC.
In the background picture, we see Andrea Barzagli in action with Leonardo Bonucci watching on during the showdown in season 2015-16, won by the Bianconeri by 2-0, with a clean sheet by the other B in the acronym, Gianluigi Buffon.
THE FIRST AWAY DAY OF THE SEASON
In the photo Felipe Anderson is outnumbered by the C of the BBBC, Giorgio Chiellini, assisted by Alex Sandro. It was when Lazio hosted Juventus in season 2016-17, the first away game of the campaign. The Lady edged the contest 1-0, with another clean sheet.
SCORING DEBUT
An all-South American duel between the Uruguayan Martin Caceres and the Argentine Julio Cruz in season 2009/10. Like the previous meeting, this Lazio-Juventus contest also saw the Bianconeri prevail.
And one of the goals in the 2-0 win arrived from the defender on his debut, which would be Caceres' only goal in his first Serie A season.
SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT
Jurgen Kohler versus Roberto Cravero, representing two philosophies of defence, German and Italian. This clash took place in 1993 and it ended in a 1-1 draw. It was the Lazio sweeper, who played many Turin derbies against Juve when at Torino, who cancelled out Roberto Baggio's opening goal.
HAIL! JULIO CESAR
Julio Cesar on the attack at the Olimpico. It was not an improbable football match played in ancient Rome, but Juve's Brazilian defender in season 1990-91.
Among other things, on the Biancoceleste bench there sat someone very dear to Juventus hearts, former player and coach Dino Zoff.
LAST DAY OF THE SEASON
Antonio Cabrini faced Lazio many times throughout his career. This photo comes from season 1984-85, when the Scudetto was unstitched from the Bianconeri shirt and end up on that of Verona - to then return one season later.
It was a classic end-of-season match, with nothing to play for in the standings, with Lazio already relegated and Juve aiming for the European Cup final. The final result read 3-3.
