Some love stories really are long, unique and passionate, and the one shared by Cristiana Girelli and Juventus Women certainly ticks all of those boxes.
Now, the Bianconere no.10’s contract renewal is official, with an agreement being reached to see her stay until 2025. There is also an option to extend that by another year until 2026 as well.
This comes as great news for the Bianconere, keeping hold of an important figure.
Cristiana is one of the players to have contributed the most during her time with the Bianconere, having joined from Brescia in 2018. She immediately became a reference point in the side, both on an off the pitch.
In almost six years at Juventus, she has won practically everything - four Serie A titles, three Italian Cups, and four Italian Super Cups. To add to the trophies, Cri has scored an incredible number of goals and had a hand in so many more to win the hearts of fans.
CRISTIANA GIRELLI’S NUMBERS
- Juventus Women’s all-time top scorer with 116. She is the only player in triple figures for goals with Juventus in 172 appearances, fewer than only Arianna Caruso, Lisa Boattin and Barbara Bonansea.
- Since Juventus’ debut in Serie A in 2017/18, Girelli is the only player to have scored 20 goals or more in a single season, hitting 22 in 2020/21. As well, on May 8, 2021, she became the first player in the club’s history to surpass the 50-goal mark in Serie A.
- She currently has nine goals this Serie A season, and could become the first player to hit double figures in each of the last 10 seasons - since 2013/14.
- On 13 November, 2023, she was inducted into the Italian Football Hall of Fame, having hit 100 goals for Juventus and 100 appearances for Italy. She also succeeded Sara Gama as captain of the Italy Women’s National Team following Sara Gama’s international retirement.
For so long, we have admired Cristiana Girelli’s work in a Juventus shirt, and she will continue to make memories in our shirt for a while to come.
Onwards together. Congratulations, Cristiana!
