A milestone achievement for Federico Chiesa, who against Lecce on Matchday 6 of this season's Serie A campaign, made his 100th appearance in all competitions for Juventus.
Chiesa started the championship in fine form, scoring in three consecutive appearances and six goals in his last eight league matches, as many as in his previous 51 matches in the competition.
From 1 to 100
Fede's first game came in the league, away at Crotone on 17 October 2020. The match ended 1-1 between the Bianconeri and the home side, with Chiesa providing the assist for Alvaro Morata's equaliser, before then being sent off on the hour mark. A few days later, he made his Juventus debut in the Champions League, away to Dinamo Kiev, before playing his first game at home against Barcelona, also in the Champions League.
First Goal
One can never forget their first goal. For Federico, it came on December 2, 2020, in the Champions League, against Dinamo Kiev at the Allianz Stadium. Headers aren't necessary his speciality, but being in the right place at the right time, Fede headed in Alex Sandro's cross to break the deadlock, with Juve recording a 3-0 win.
His first in Serie A came two weeks later, on 16 December 2020, again at home, but this time against Atalanta. And what a goal it was: controlling the ball in midfield, he took it goalwards, evading a wall of Atalanta defenders before unleashing an unstoppable right-footed rocket into the top corner.
Back On Track
Chiesa's Juventus history also contains difficult moments. One in particular stands out, which began a decidedly complicated period for Federico - his long injury lay-off after going down against Roma on 9 January 2022. From that day to 2 November of the same year, fans waited longingly to see their hero return. For almost 11 months, there were no more photos from the pitch, no more mesmerising dribbles, no more joyous celebrations, but only a long and difficult journey to return to action. Chiesa has now left the dark moments behind, and has marked his new beginning with a new shirt number, changing from '22' to '7'. He has been a driving force in this first part of the season, as mentioned above, and, against Lecce, he has now reached a special milestone, with even bigger ones to still pursue in future.
