20 May 2023
Saturday, 20 May 2023 will be the last away match in the league for Juventus Women, who travel to Florence to take on Fiorentina. Earlier this season, on 11 February 2023, La Viola hosted the Bianconere in what turned out to be an enthralling encounter.
LINE UP
Taking to the field that day, as chosen by head coach Joe Montemurro, was: Peyraud-Magnin; Lenzini, Sembrant, Rosucci, Salvai; Caruso, Gunnarsdottir, Grosso; Bonansea, Girelli, Beerensteyn.
CECILIA STRIKES
After a strong start, the visitors found the breakthrough on the 20-minute mark. Moments earlier, Cecilia Salvai had come close to opening the scoring but her shot was saved by Baldi. However, she got her goal soon after as a free-kick deflected off Sembrant and onto the post, with Ceci on hand to poke the ball home on the goalline.
PPM'S ASSIST
The Bianconere doubled their advantage just 12 minutes into the second half, the assist coming from the most unlikeliest of sources: Pauline Peyraud-Magnin cleared long upfield, which caught the Fiorentina defence napping, and Lineth Beerensteyn used her pace to latch onto the ball and speed towards goal before keeping her composure to apply the finish.
ADDING A THIRD
With just under ten minutes to go, Juve had their third: a delicious Julia Grosso cross from the left-hand side of the box was met by Cristiana Girelli, who out-jumped her marker and directed her header past the keeper and into the back of the net.
100 UP
And it was no ordinary header for Girelli... the goal brought up a milestone 100th strike in black and white for the Juve forward, a feat duly celebrated at the end of the game with her teammates.
