The Derby della Mole is fast-approaching.
It will be Derby number 208, and the 157th played out in Serie A. It's a match filled with excitement, nerves, drama ... and goals! And in particular, derby doubles!
Here we look back at several Juventus match-winners who scored a brace in this historic match-up.
1981-82 | Gaetano Scirea
"I'm happy because certain goals give a particular joy." Gaetano Scirea’s performance in the derby of 7 March 1982, made it a truly special Sunday. He had already scored two braces in Bianconero, but this derby double was worth far more. Juve found themselves two goals down after just 22 minutes, before Marco Tardelli reduced the deficit, before our number 6 levelled matters. Scirea then put Juventus in front, before Liam Brady closed out the scoring to secure the 4-2 win.
1983-84 | Michel Platini
Michel Platini was another player to reverse the fate of a derby. And what masterpieces they were: the first was a header, the second a precise free-kick that perfectly evaded the head of Granata defender Roberto Galbiati, placed on the goal line. Both goals were scored under the Filadelfia stand, as the final scoreline read 2-1 to the Bianconeri.
1992-93 | Antonio Conte
Antonio Conte’s first league goals were scored in a derby, in a 2-1 victory in which he showcased his ability to assert himself with warrior-like temperament. The matches against Toro would always bring out his best, even as a coach, where he would go on to win four derbies in as many matches.
2012-13 | Claudio Marchisio
He had already played in several derbies in the youth ranks, yet the Derby della Mole on 1 December 2012 depicted a particular success story of a player from youth system making his derby mark in the first team. Because the protagonist was Claudio Marchisio, scorer of the first and third goals, one with a diving header and the other with a left-footed strike. In between each goal, another youth system player, Sebastian Giovinco, found the target in that memorable 3-0 three-pointer.
2017-18 | Paulo Dybala
It was one-way traffic in the 2017/18 derby played at the Allianz Stadium. Juve dominated the game from start to finish, with Paulo Dybala scoring the opening and closing goals. Miralem Pjanic and Alex Sandro were the other scorers, as the Argentine opened proceedings with a strike from the edge of the box, before picking up a ball from compatriot Gonzalo Higuain to coolly finish in the closing stages to make it 4-0.
