Footballer. Woman. Mother.
With Mother's Day being celebrated during this week, we decided to make our contribution to this special moment by telling the story of a mother who plays for Juventus Women: Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir, the trophy-laden Icelander who made Turin her home last summer.
My Greatest Achievement, the new original Juventus Creator Lab production, tells the story of Sara, but also of her footballer husband Arni Vilhjalmsson. The tale of two parents, who as professional sportspeople lead a unique kind of life, who believe in their choices and who have been able to carry them through even in the midst of far from irrelevant workplace difficulties - Sara's treatment by her previous club has been covered in depth and she tells it here in her own words.
“Being a professional football player while taking care of a child is not something you are mentally prepared for,” admitted Sara. Just as it is not easy to flip your life upside down, move lock stock and barrel with your family to Turin - and in Arni's case, leave his team in France in search of a new club.
The story that is told is above all about enthusiastically accepting a new challenge day by day and relish it, just like Sara and Arni have done. Together of course with little Ragnar.
